Tulsi Tanti, who is 61 years old today, is the name of chairman of renewable energy solutions provider named as Suzlon Energy Limited. Suzlon Energy is a Pune headquartered company supplying wind turbines.

Tulsi Tanti figures amongst those industrialists who could foresee prospect in an idea which has not been developed fully as yet. Mr. Tanti not only went for the idea but also succeeded in it. This day, he is ranked amongst the ten richest men in India.

Tulsi Tanti has done his graduated in commerce and he also holds a diploma in mechanical engineering. He is originally from a place called Rajkot which is located in Gujarat but now he along with his family members puts up in Pune, Maharashtra.

Tulsi got married to Gita. He has an elder son namely Pranav Tanti and a daughter named Nidhi Tanti.

Before Suzlon Energy, Tulsi Tanti was into a business that dealt with textiles which he started and used to run in Gujarat. He later realised that there was not much scope because of problems related to infrastructure.

The major setbacks were cost and non-availability of power. They made up the major proportion of expenses required for operating a textile firm.

When Tulsi Tanti got two windmills in 1990, he came to know about its big prospective. He slowly gave up his textile business and jumped into the formation of a new company called Suzlon Energy.

Suzlon Energy Limited is Asia’s largest and world’s 6th biggest company that deals with wind energy. The company is now making a wind park which will be counted amongst the largest in the world.

Suzlon Energy is currently eyeing expansion in the global markets. Belgium-based Hansen Transmissions International NV that makes wind turbine gearboxes was sometimes back acquired by the company.

A rotating blade factory was built by Suzlon Energy in Minnesota and investments amounting to 60 million dollars have already been invested by the company in Tianjin, China. Making India an export hub of wind power is the dream of Tulsi Tanti.
